PROGRAM

Outline

This 2-week program is organized by the Kyoto City Government and the Consortium of Universities in Kyoto for overseas students to gain first-hand experience of studying in Japan, and a number of lecturs, cultural programs and field trips, including interaction with local students - buddy program are offered for participants.

Date : Summer 23 July - 5 August 2017 Winter 14 January - 27 January 2018
Participants : Undergraduate, Graduate level of students

Number of Participants : 25 / each program


Evaluation : Participants will be graded on
・In-class activities (20%)
・Class report (30%)
・Final presentation (50%)
Certificate will be awarded upon successful completion of the program.
Language used : English
Program Fee: JPY 130,000

Accommodation and local transport fee JPY 112,280
Lectures and activities JPY 17,720

Not Included: Transportation to and from Kyoto,
The cost of passports and visas,
Living expenses and meals,
International insurance,
And other daily expenses

Please note that there is no scholarship for this program,
but it's set a very reasonable price with the support from Kyoto City Government.

Applications : Applications must be submitted online via application form.
All applications will be reviewed and notification of selection and the payment procedures will be sent by email.
Applications should include the following file attachments:
・A photo of the applicant (taken within the last 6 months, JPG or PNG file)
・Recommendation letter for this program from your supervisor / institute (free format - 1 page only, PDF)

Payment : Payments are acceptable via credit card or bank transfer.
PayPal is not acceptable.

・Japan and the West - Historical Relationship between Japan and The West
・Cultural Anthropology of Japan – Yokai, Yurei of Japan
・Manga – Japanese comics
・Food Culture and Education in Japan – Shun and Shokuiku
・Japanese Business1 - Business and Culture of Kyoto
・Japanese Business2 – Pop Culture Business in Japan

Activities

・Kyoto half day tour
・Campus tour
・Market visits
・Shrines and temples (including World Heritage sites)
・Japanese garden sites
・Manga Museum
・Japanese Cooking
・Japanese Language Lesson
・Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement)
・Kimono experience
・Kyoto Photowalk - Photography workshop
・BBQor NABE (hotpot) with student buddies

Accommodation

Single occupancy room at the Karasuma Kyoto Hotel, popular choice amongst international tourists located in the center of Kyoto, is offered for each participant during the whole program.
